The impact of poetry and the spoken word club
Spoken word showed me what it’s like to tell a story in a matter of a minute or more . Spoken word has given me my first job , a love for teaching , and friends for a life time ! My first mentor came from that little room on the third floor , made me be seen for more than my athletic ability . My life has been leveled up by poetry , giving me something to put on the table . Spoken word is more than just an impact to me , I don’t have a word for it yet … but it’s been more than just impactful , but I dare say it’s given me life .
Top favorite poets or lyricists
1. Rudy Fransisco - This was the first poet I ever wanted to memorize … he also made me feel seen at a time that I didn’t .
2. KB- This lyricist is able beautifully express Christ in a way like no other , from the flow , to his story “showing” in each bar , magically to see it all connect to back to My Savior !
3. Majesty Gunn - I surprise my own darn self sometimes , and if I’m not my own fan I’ll never write again . Ya gotta love your own work for it to be loved by others .
