The impact of poetry and the spoken word club

I have always been a chatty person, yet I have never been good at expressing how I feel. This difficulty to share things about myself makes it challenging to connect with others. However, the Spoken Word Club introduced me to poetry. Consequently, this Club provided me a platform and the support I needed to feel comfortable enough to express my feelings and share my problems in a safe and healthy way. Even though I graduated out of Spoken Word Club three years ago, I still use poetry as a way to heal, as a way to unravel my problems, and express my emotions to others. Therefore, I would not be the person I am today without poetry.
